Swanwick is an extraordinary and authentic Art Deco (circa 1925) platinum ring engagement ring. The gleaming center diamond is further adorned by a unique halo of Single Cut diamonds and flanked by additional Single Cut diamonds tapering down the shank. Swanwick is studded with an additional fourteen Single Cut diamonds that total approximately 0.16ct in weight. The platinum ring is finished with a simple platinum shank. It is currently a size 5.75 and can be sized to fit.

The most characteristic feature of Art Deco jewelry is the emphasis on bold, geometric designs. The “Roaring 20’s” ushered in a new desire to live life to the fullest, which was very much reflected in the era’s jewelry designs.

The unusually shaped center stone is flanked on either side by a pair of prong-set Old Mine Cut diamonds, totaling approximately 0.20ct. Lamport
$2,200

Lamport is a feminine and authentic Art Nouveau (circa 1905) 14k yellow gold engagement ring. This unique beauty centers four Round natural prong-set sapphires, each gauged at 3.6mm in diameter and totaling approximately 0.80ct in combined total weight. The purplish-blue sapphires are additionally enhanced by three Old European Cut diamonds flanking each side totaling approximately 0.15ct in weight. Lamport is the epitome of design from the early 1900's. It is currently a size 6.25 and can be sized to fit.

In contrast to the concurrent Edwardian period, jewelry from the Art Nouveau period was an artistic revolt against the technological advances of the industrial age, instead focusing heavily on handcrafting and creative design. In this jewelry, unusual gemstones like opal, agate, and moonstone were popular, and diamonds were more often used as subtle accents.

Cedar Creek
$6,800

Cedar Creek is a fabulous Edwardian era (circa 1915) platinum engagement ring. This one-of-a-kind, handcrafted beauty centers a bezel set Oval Cut natural sapphire gauged at approximately 1.80ct accompanied with by a Guild Laboratories certificate stating the sapphire is Unheated with Thai origin. The pretty cobalt blue sapphire is surrounded by a glittering halo of fourteen Old European Cut diamonds, each bezel set, totaling approximately 0.90ct in weight. Cedar Creek is finished with a simple platinum shank that was most likely added in the 1950's. It is currently a size 8.75 and can be sized to fit.

During the Edwardian period, technological advances caused major changes in the way that jewelry was manufactured. Jewelers were finally able to work with platinum, which allowed for more intricate and detailed pieces. Delicate settings with lots of diamonds were especially popular during this time, though we also see a number of different colored stones, including sapphires, aquamarines, and rare electric green demantoid garnets.

Scarborough
$22,500

Scarborough is a newly-made engagement ring modeled after one of our all time favorite Edwardian era rings. The platinum topped 18k yellow gold ring centers a beautiful 2.20cts EGL certified Old European Cut diamond graded J color and VS2 clarity. The incredibly feminine ring is further detailed with a decadent halo of sixteen Round Brilliant Cut diamonds totaling exactly 0.62ct in weight. Each accent diamond is finished with whimsical scalloped edges, adding an extra detail to the classic halo style engagement ring. The ring is completed by an 18k yellow gold shank detailed with fluted edges along each shoulder. The ring is currently a size 6.5 and can be sized to fit.

During the Edwardian era, advances in metal fabrication finally allowed for the use of platinum in jewelry (which still remains extremely popular today). This advance makes jewelry dating much easier - if a piece is made with platinum, we can be fairly sure that it was made in the early 20th century or later. In addition, it was still common practice for jewelers to back platinum pieces with gold until 1910 or so, making dating even more precise. Because of the strength of platinum, its use allowed jewelers to produce more intricate, detailed pieces. Some Edwardian engagement rings are so detailed it appears that the diamonds are set in lace instead of metal. Jewelry from the Edwardian period was light and delicate, and using as many diamonds as possible in a design was essential. The overall style of the times was light, feminine, and airy.
