Our Guarantee

Each Trumpet & Horn piece is absolutely guaranteed as stated, including the current condition and period of manufacture or creation of all materials, gemstones, and diamonds in each and every piece. We sell no reproduction items that are meant to fool or mislead - each ring in our “Vintage Inspired” collection is clearly designated as such, and was inspired by an authentic vintage or estate Trumpet & Horn ring that we absolutely loved and reproduced just for you. On every product page we clearly state all of the information we have for the item, including the approximate year of creation, the 4 C’s (if relevant, as indicated in each ring’s certification), and any other information that may be relevant to you. Our promise is a beautiful, unique piece of jewelry that you will love for a lifetime, and we are committed to do our utmost to achieve that end. All pieces have been selected and inspected by our in-house GIA Graduate Gemologist.

I tried checking out with a credit card, and I received a 'gateway error'. What does this mean?

This happens to our customers all the time and there's an easy fix! This error message simply means that your credit card company has blocked the transaction. Give your credit card company a call and let them know you approve of the purchase and try again once you have the green light from them!

My credit card doesn't have a high enough credit limit to purchase the item I want. Is there any other way I can pay?

Shopping Questions

I think I found the perfect ring on your website! Can I take a few days to think about it?

Need a little more time? Not a problem. We are happy to place any piece on reserve for up to three days (including weekends) while you decide. This ensures that no other customer will be able to purchase the piece during that time, with no need for a holding deposit. Please contact us to reserve an item.

Need to reserve an item for longer than three days? We consider each reserve request in excess of three days on a case-by-case basis.

I saw a ring that I loved, but it has a "reserved" banner next to it. What does that mean?

If a ring is marked as "reserved", the ring is on hold for consideration for three days, and then the customer will either purchase it, or it will be marked as available again. Give us a call if you're really interested in the ring and we can tell you what the status is. If you miss out on something you love, contact our concierge who can help you find something similar, or maybe even better!

Why are sold items still posted?

While most of our items are one-of-a-kind, our concierge is able to search our inventory and supply network for similar items to what we have already sold. We are sometimes also able to recreate an original piece at the request of a client. If you see something you love that is marked sold, we encourage you to contact our concierge to see if we can find something similar.

Can I work with T&H to custom create a ring?

We are happy to source a unique center stone to make the perfect vintage-inspired ring for you based on a piece in our collection (past or present!) Each of our newly-made rings is handmade here in Los Angeles, and custom work begins at $9,500.

I love the setting of a ring on your site - can you swap the stone for one that I like better?

Yes and no. While this is usually technically feasible, we prefer to maintain the historical integrity of our rings. That said, we may be able to find you something similar that you'll love even more. Contact our concierge for more details.

Can I purchase one of your mountings and supply my own stone?

We only sell complete rings, meaning we are happy to source your diamond and create the perfect T&H Collection ring for you, from beginning to end. We are unable to sell our mountings separately or set your own stone.

What is the difference between "antique" vintage" and "vintage-inspired"?

Most of the rings on our site are authentically vintage or antique. When a ring has been previously owned and was made over 100 years ago from the present year, we call it "antique". We have many engagement rings in our collection that would be considered “antique”, which are all from the Victorian and Edwardian periods (the mid 1800’s to about 1915). Antique engagement rings are a wonderful piece of history that need extra care and attention due to their more delicate nature. When cared for properly, antique engagement rings will last several more lifetimes! When a ring has been previously owned but it was made anytime in the last 100 years from the present date, we call it "vintage". The rules get a little fuzzy in this category, but “vintage” typically refers to engagement rings that are at least 20-30 years old, but less than 100 years old, and have been previously owned. The majority of engagement rings in our collection are authentically vintage, coming from the Art Deco, Retro, and Modern eras (1915 - the late 1960’s). Finally, any ring that is newly made, has not been previously owned, and was made to look like a vintage or antique ring is considered "vintage-inspired". Most rings from national retailers that are labeled "vintage" are actually "vintage-inspired", because they are brand new and have never been owned by anyone before. Vintage-inspired rings often use antique or vintage cut diamonds such as the Old Mine Cut or Old European Cut, but have newly made settings. Knowing what "vintage" actually means will help you purchase a ring - maybe a vintage-inspired engagement ring is what you're after, or maybe you're looking for an engagement ring already rich with history that was made in another era. The choice is yours!

What is the difference between GIA and EGL?

GIA and EGL are two leading gemological laboratories that can supply a diamond certificate for you. (Think Harvard vs Yale.) GIA was established in 1933 and tends to hold a little more prestige because it is older and they are known for their very strict and harsh grading scale. GIA however grades all diamonds on today's standards - e.g. they compare old stones to new stones and use today's criteria. (Which if you ask us, is a little unfair because when old stones were being cut, they weren't making them to spec like they do now - they were just trying to make something beautiful!) EGL gives older stones a little more leeway, e.g. they label an Old European Cut an Old European Cut instead of calling it a Circular Brilliant like GIA. It's all very technical - but at the end of the day, you want to have a certificate, and GIA and EGL are both great options that we use on our vintage stones. We prefer to judge the stones by their visible qualities and beauty, not just by the certificate. Most diamonds over $5,000 come with a complimentary certificate. If you would like to purchase a GIA certificate on a stone that does not currently have one, we can do so for an additional $150. Some stones are unable to be removed due to the delicate nature of their setting and therefore will be appraised/ graded in their mounting.

Do you offer insurance?

You cannot purchase insurance through us, but we highly recommend that you do so! Your engagement ring is an investment that you and your partner have made to celebrate the decision to spend your lives together. Just like you would insure your house, car, or motorcycle, we strongly suggest getting your ring insured to protect against a potentially devastating situation. Trumpet & Horn highly recommends Jeweler's Mutual Insurance to help ensure your ring is covered against loss, theft, damage, or mysterious disappearance. If you already have an existing homeowners, renters, or car insurance policy, talk to your agent about adding an additional policy to cover your new engagement ring.

Do you offer appraisals?

Every piece that is over $5,000 will come with a complimentary appraisal from a USPAP Certified Appraiser. If you would like an appraisal on a piece that is under $5,000 we can supply one for $150. We do not appraise any outside jewelry that we do not sell.

How do I care for my ring?

Head over to our care guide! And remember do not sleep, workout, swim or lift heavy furniture while wearing your ring. Want to keep her sparkling? We offer an amazing cleaner that is safe on almost all stones, contact us for more details!

Sizing & Repair Questions

I received my ring and I LOVE it. However, it's not the right size. What should I do?

Most of our Trumpet & Horn rings include sizing at the time of purchase to ensure that your ring fits perfectly! If your ring was custom ordered in your size or it has already been sized and needs further adjusting, we're happy to take care of that for you at an additional cost (approx. $100 to $300). Please note that there are a few rings on our site that cannot be sized more than two sizes up or down from their current size due to the fragile nature of the ring's setting. We will always do our best to let you know any sizing restrictions before you purchase a ring.

Can every ring be sized?

Almost all of our rings can be sized to any size. Occasionally we come across a piece where sizing is difficult, but we will always try to note that in the ring's description. For rings that need to be sized up or down over 2 sizes will be subject to a sizing fee and will be final sale not eligible for return or exchange. We will assess the ring sizing cost on a case-by-case basis, contact us for details.
